Evangelia Kavakli

Prof. Evangelia Kavakli is a Professor of Informatics at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean. Her academic expertise focuses on requirements engineering, privacy by design, enterprise modelling, social cyber-physical systems, and cultural informatics. She has extensive experience in the analysis and design of database and information systems, both in academic and applied research contexts. She holds a PhD in Computation from UMIST, Manchester, UK, where her doctoral research focused on goal-driven requirements engineering. She also holds an MSc by Research in Computation from UMIST and a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Crete. Dr. Kavakli has served the University of the Aegean continuously since 2000, progressing through the academic ranks from Lecturer to Assistant Professor and currently Associate Professor. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a system engineer and project manager in both research institutions and the private sector. She has participated in numerous European and national funded research projects since 1994, including Horizon 2020 and earlier Framework Programme initiatives, covering areas such as big data, decentralised systems, cultural heritage, e-learning platforms, and enterprise information systems. She has received competitive research funding, including an EPSRC grant, and actively contributes to interdisciplinary research linking informatics, privacy, and cultural technologies.
